The Red Door Project of Central Texas MCC serves the HIV population of Waco and the surrounding area. It provides the only food pantry dedicated to the HIV population, as well as the only HIV support groups, in all McLennan County. The Pantry, located at 1601 Clay Ave. and open on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays between 2:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m., is available for anyone who can show any evidence of HIV status. Call 752-5331 for more information. In addition to the Red Door Pantry, we provide space for two peer support groups which meet at 7:00 p.m. on the third Thursday of every month: a support group for persons living with HIV, and a support group for the friends, families, partners, and caregivers of persons living with HIV. Although the groups have facilitators, the primary support comes from the sharing of stories between group members. The evening begins with a hot, home-cooked meal at 7:00 p.m., followed by the support groups, which last from 7:30 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. We also host a support group for HIV+ women on the first Saturday of each month at 11:00 a.m. Following the meeting, a sandwich lunch is provided. How can you help? It's easy! You can make a donation to "Central Texas MCC" with "Red Door Pantry" in the memo. Mail it to:
